Application Process

Main Content

At WMU, the admission procedures for U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens is different. Admission for U.S. citizens and permanent residents is handled via a self-managed application process. This process requires that students take responsibility for gathering all required admission materials and submitting these materials to the appropriate office before the published admission dates.

Instructions for completing the application form and submitting materials is detailed on the Graduate Self-Managed Application and must be followed exactly to prevent delays in processing. Applications for admission can be obtained from the Graduate College website.

Non-U.S. citizens should follow instructions as outlined in the materials obtained from International Services and Student Affairs. International students can obtain admission application materials from International Services and Student Affairs website.

Individuals applying for fall admission should apply by April 1. (If also applying for financial assistance, admission applications are due by February 15.) Individuals applying for spring admission should apply by August 1.
